TRAINER OF CHAMPIONS
A true pioneer in his efforts to bring strength, health and fitness consciousness to the public’s attention, Joe Weider has used his expertise to help millions of people the world over lead healthier, happier lives.
Much has been written about Joe and his younger brother Ben. The story of the brothers Weider and their rise to fame and fortune has been told and retold many times. This 50-minute video by Paradigm Pictures Corporation tells how two young kids from Montreal, growing up in the Great Depression, decided to change the world and, in so doing, created a fitness empire and started a bodybuilding movement that would eventually span the globe.
Perhaps their story might best be summarized by the famous Latin phrase "Per Ardua ad Astra" - Through Adversity to the Stars. As you will see, their success was borne of hard work, commitment and dedication, with a healthy dose of ingenuity, entrepreneurial spirit and, most of all, perseverance. Joe and Ben are recognized worldwide as true pioneers; in fact, as legends in their own time. Like many, they dared to dream on a grand scale. But what sets them apart is their struggle, oftentimes through great adversity, to make their dreams come true.
As Joe’s "extended family" from around the world, we celebrate his 85th birthday on November 29th. We pay special tribute to this most remarkable man - to Joe Weider, the "Father of Modern Bodybuilding"; co-founder with brother Ben in 1946 of the now 180-country-strong International Federation of Bodybuilding & Fitness (IFBB); the "Master Blaster"; the "Trainer of Champions since 1936" - we wish you many healthy and fit years to come.
