Steve Reeves won the 1950 Mr. Universe contest held in London. The trophy for the contest was the original 3st Place bronze Sandow trophy from the 1901 Great Contest in London in 1901. Later a relative of Mr. Murray, the bodybuilder who won the 1901Great Contest contacted Steve Reeve and asked him if he would like to purchase the Gold Sandow to go along with the bronze one he had. Steve Reeves was to receive a lifetime achievement award from the NABBA Universe in 1977 and asked Surge Nebret to present him with the Gold Statue at that event that he had recently purchased from Mr. Murray’s relative. The Silver Sandow has been reported as destroyed or lost during WWII. I have all the documents to back up the above information.

Yes, Steve Reeves won the original 2nd place trophy from the 1901 contest and he received the Gold 1st place trophy from the 1901 contest in 1977 as a lifetime achievement award at the NABBA Universe dinner present to Steve by Surge Nubert. I have supporting paperwork backing up both statues. No one knows what happened to the Silver but it has been reported as destroyed during WWII.
