IFBBPRO.com INTRODUCES PHOENIX PRO PROMOTER
STRYKER SALMAN
On Saturday, February 20th, the 2010 IFBB Professional League season kicks off with the Phoenix Pro, with competition taking place in Men's and Women's Open Bodybuilding, Men's 202-lb and under Bodybuilding, and Women's Fitness and Figure.
The man behind this inaugural Phoenix Pro event is competitor, judge and promoter Stryker Salman.
Stryker was born on May 17th, 1968 in the Republic of Liberia, West Africa and currently resides in Mesa, Arizona, USA. Stryker has a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration.
Stryker promotes NPC and IFBB Professional League events; most recently the 2010 NPC Desert Muscle Classic Bodybuilding Show that was held in Tucson, Arizona on February 6th.
IFBBPRO.com: How did you become involved in Bodybuilding and Fitness?
Stryker: At the young age of 14, I was invited by a group of friends to work out at a local gym. Quietly, I sat back and watched as my friends unsuccessfully tried to bench press 135 pounds. When it was my turn, I began repping the weight, much to the amazement of my friends. They were envious and abandoned me at the gym, leaving me to walk ten miles back home. That walk was one of victory and enlightenment. I had discovered a new-found passion!
IFBBPRO.com: What is your involvement with the NPC (National Physique Committee of the USA)?
Stryker: I've been an NPC judge for 3 years and an NPC head judge for 2 years. I'm also an NPC competitor.
IFBBPRO.com: Why did you decide to become a promoter?
Stryker: I became a promoter because of my passion as a competitive bodybuilder and for the love of the sport of Bodybuilding and Fitness. Working with the NPC and IFBB Professional League, I wanted to play a more active role in elevating the image of our sport and ensuring our athletes are represented with the highest level of integrity. My goal is to introduce the sport of Bodybuilding and Fitness to new audiences; to get them excited about what we do; and to encourage the general public to adopt a healthy and fit lifestyle.
IFBBPRO.com: Who inspires you to work towards and achieve this goal?
Stryker: Some of the outstanding people that inspire me are Jay Cutler, Ahmad Haidar and Troy Alves. Jim Manion, NPC President and Chairman of the IFBB Professional League, is my mentor.
IFBBPRO.com: Are you engaged in any activities outside of sport? What do you do with your leisure time?
Stryker: I wish I had leisure time! I'm always busy either getting ready to compete, promoting StrykerX or working in the community meeting people.
IFBBPRO.com: How do you see the sport; past, present and future?
Stryker: In the past, I believe we lacked adequate medical and scientific knowledge in our sport. Now, we have been blessed with so much fantastic information, it makes the future of Bodybuilding and Fitness that much brighter.
IFBBPRO.com: Best of luck with the Phoenix Pro this weekend!
